Youtube has had the synthetic content disclosure toggle for over a year. ive seen maybe 3 videos in my entire feed actually use it. either nobody is making AI content (impossible) or nobody is checking the box. is anyone seeing actual enforcement
Enforcement is essentially zero. ive spoken with two youtube partner managers and theyve both quietly admitted moderating disclosure at scale isnt currently feasible. the toggle is there for the eventual policy framework but has no real teeth right now.
Platforms in general are in a ‘show we have a policy’ phase before they’re in a ‘enforce the policy’ phase. itll take legislation to push enforcement.
yeah that tracks. ill keep checking the box on my own content but i have no illusions about it being a level playing field.
