Ten years writing copy for a living. i can tell when something is AI within 3 sentences usually. but i cannot get my own writing under 30% on most detectors. ran the same paragraph through 5 of them today and got 12, 47, 71, 8, and 63 percent. SAME paragraph. and people are getting fired and failed based on these numbers. just venting.
Yeah it’s a mess. We stopped using detector scores as a gatekeeping criterion entirely last quarter. They flagged our most experienced writer at 80% and a junior at 15% on roughly equivalent paragraphs. The signal was inversely correlated with skill. So we threw it out as a metric internally.
