Ive been writing seo blog content for 8 years. last 6 months every single post i publish gets flagged by at least one detector. clients started running my deliveries through 3 different tools. i can pass 2 of 3 most weeks but theres always one detector that flags me at 80%+ AI. is well-structured clear writing now permanently suspect or am i missing something
you’re not missing anything. this is the SEO industry’s current pain point. detectors have been recalibrated to pick up the exact patterns that good content writers default to: clear topic sentences, consistent transitions, scannable structure. literally the qualities google rewards in helpful content updates are the same qualities AI optimizes for. few things that have worked for my clients: 1) randomize paragraph length more aggressively (some single sentence paragraphs, some long ones). 2) include first person anecdotes even on B2B content. 3) link to specific dated experiences (‘back in march at the san francisco offsite…’). detectors flag less when content has anchored references that pure AI wouldnt make up.
Seconding the anecdote advice. The other workaround people are using is post-hoc humanization. Tools like Walter Writes can run a finished draft through a rewriting layer to vary sentence rhythm enough to get past the stricter detectors. I have mixed feelings about using an AI tool to mask AI-detector false positives, but if your livelihood depends on passing the screen, its a reasonable tactic.
@SilentBean64 the anecdote thing is interesting. i write very ‘clean’ B2B SaaS content so i strip out personal stuff. going to try leaving some in this week and see what happens. @NightOwl_Reborn ive heard of those tools but havent tried. ill report back if i do.
Worth adding: ask your clients to also test their own existing content with the same detectors. About 70% of the time their CEO’s old posts also flag as AI. Gets them to recalibrate expectations quickly.
