Art communities are getting absolutely flooded with AI, heres what im doing about it

Not a writer in this category but i collect from emerging artists and the community discord channels im in are getting overrun with AI-generated posts that arent disclosed. my personal workflow now is: pause before liking anything, check for hands and shadows, look at the artists portfolio history. its exhausting. is anyone else just gradually pulling out of the communities?

Yes. ive narrowed my follows to like 12 artists where i know the person and i see them post WIPs. the discoverability is dead. its sad.

As a buyer i feel the same. the WIP/process video is now the de facto signal. anything that just shows a finished piece gets a side-eye.

From the publication side we now require WIP submission for any commissioned piece. saves us a ton of authenticity headaches

Yeah WIP is the new currency of trust in creative communities. its kind of beautiful in a way

The ‘WIP is the new trust signal’ framing is going to spread beyond art too. ive started doing this for code i open source - showing the commit graph and rough scratch branches because pure ‘here is the polished repo’ looks suspicious now. its the same dynamic.
